This THM S, low carb dish will transport you to your favorite local mom and pop Italian restaurant. Get the flavors of this popular dish without the heavy, hard to digest combination of carbs and fats!
Recreating and/or adapting down-home Southern heritage recipes to a healthier eating style is one of my favorite things to do and this blog is loaded with those type recipes.
Another of my favorite hobbies has long been recreating some of our family’s restaurant favorites.
Little mom and pop Italian restaurants are high on our list of favorites and a sauce very similar to this one is the one chosen most often when we meet up for a great Italian meal.
This type sauce starts out as a basic red sauce but when heavy whipping cream is added you get the flavor benefits of the flavorful tomato-based sauce and added creaminess of an alfredo type sauce.
I generally go for that type sauce when eating out but lately, I’ve been eating it over stuffed mushrooms and other veggies rather than pasta, for obvious reasons!
When I recently came across a recipe for a sauce of this sort but served over zoodles I knew I had to adapt it and add it to my blog favorites. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This is a great summer supper too because the sauce cooks up in one skillet while the salted summer zoodles are draining in a colander.
Here are a few more remakes of restaurant favorites:
