Italian Sausage in Creamy Tomato Sauce with Spiralized Zoodles is so flavorful!
This THM S, Keto dish will transport you to your favorite local mom and pop Italian restaurant. Get the flavors of this popular dish without the heavy, hard to digest combination of carbs and fats!
I’ve tweaked my original recipe to make it low carb and it’s also now an easy to cook one-skillet sauce with no-cook zoodles.
While the meal browns you spiralize the zucchini, salt it and let it drain. Then add your sauce ingredients to your meat and let it simmer. Plate, Serve, and Enjoy!
Recreating and/or adapting down-home Southern heritage recipes to a healthier eating style is one of my favorite things to do and this blog is loaded with those type recipes.
Another of my favorite hobbies has long been recreating some of our family’s restaurant favorites.
Little mom and pop Italian restaurants are high on our list of favorites and a sauce very similar to this one is the one chosen most often when we meet up for a great Italian meal.
This type sauce starts out as a basic red sauce but when heavy whipping cream is added you get the flavor benefits of the flavorful tomato-based sauce and added creaminess of an alfredo type sauce.
I generally go for that type sauce when eating out but lately, I’ve been eating it over stuffed mushrooms and other veggies rather than pasta, for obvious reasons!
When I recently came across a recipe for a sauce of this sort but served over zoodles I knew I had to adapt it and add it to my blog favorites. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

I’m planning to try this soon, and I’m trying to figure out the missing ingredient after the basil. I’m guessing oregano, but I’m not sure, Can you please help me out?
Teresia says
Hi Kim and sorry about that one. It’s 1/2 tsp salt.
Sherry Branch says
Going to try this tonight! Am I understanding correctly that the zoodles aren’t cooked, just drained?
Teresia says
They are placed in a drainer and the salt draws out extra liquids.
