My family’s favorite avocado dip for the past 20 years. Naturally low carb and full of healthy fats and probiotics.
I haven’t bought avocado dip since the first time I tasted this dish over 20 years ago! It is naturally low carb and will even last in the fridge for awhile because of all the health promoting citric and lactic acid, not to mention the beneficial probiotics from the sour cream. It only has 4 ingredients so it whips up in no time. I just add some fresh dipping veggies or crisped low carb bread and I’m ready for game time, potlucks or any get together’s. I first published this on my original blog and I’m moving it over because it’s a favorite. One of my daughters entered this recipe in a County 4-H contest and won first place in her division 15 years ago when she shocked the contest judge with her discussion on good fats and the evils of trans fats which were not widely known of at the time. I hope y’all enjoy this one becomes a classic at your get together’s too.
2 medium avacados
1 small lime or lemon
1 teaspoon Tony’s seasoning or Lawry’s seasoned salt for a milder flavor (both claim to have no MSG)
1 cup sour cream (2% greek yogurt can be subbed in here but it will be more tart so you might need to cut back on the lime.)
Mash the avocados well and squeeze the lime over them. Blend in the seasonings and sour cream. Don’t be afraid to make this a few hours ahead of time as long as you keep it chilled and covered.
