Trim Healthy Mama is a proven diet plan that has worked for so many people using only the original THM planbook/cookbook combination, but tailoring THM to your own unique situation and Making THM Work For You has never been easier with all the resources that THM provides these days.
This post is a collection of resources to help those first starting out on THM and/or for those who need to reach out and claim the tools that they need to stay on this health boosting eating plan, long term.
At the end of this post I share a video that I found helpful from a YouTuber over at Marissa’s Kitchen that does a great job of getting down to the nuts and bolts of how she made THM work for her. Since her story reminds me so much of what I experienced when trying to get the scale to start moving again after a stall, I included it and hope you enjoy and benefit from it.

The place to start is ALWAYS the THM Planbook so be sure and get it right away, all of the online resources combined can’t help you if you don’t have a solid grasp of the plan! If you’re unable to purchase it new try checking with your local libraries or post on local fb groups in your area and let them know you’re looking for a used one.
People just starting this journey who have the plan book, the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook and Trim Healthy Table Cookbook, but still need a little extra help and encouragement will find the resources available amazing.
I decided to create this post after recently discovering a very savvy two-year THM veteran that didn’t know the main THM Main Fb group even existed. She was familiar with the THM Beginner group and had liked and followed the THM Fanpage but just missed the fact that the ginormous (200K plus) Trim Healthy Mama group page was available.
I’m still finding fresh encouragement from some of the resources I’ll outline below and I hope you’ll get a chance to check into any that you might have under utilized.

Ideas and Resources for Veterans support and encouragement to stay the course:
As a 4 year THM veteran and a foodie I can tell you that it’s easy to get into the rut of eating what you want when you want it as long as it’s a food that is listed as approved on the THM plan without feeling like you’re cheating.
Many of us started THM before most of the resources named above were available so it’s been a bit longer learning curve. Over the years I’ve discovered in my own journey and seeing reports from others that a combination of the following problems can cause stalls, weight regain and discouragement:
- Repeatedly combining on plan foods helter skelter without regard for the optimal 3 hour window of time for digestion and fat burning….
- Not getting enough exercise can cause the weight to creep back on or just cause us to look heavier if we have weak muscle tone.
Ideas to help maintain weight or combat this long-term weight creeep, stall, or regain would be:
- Stay in touch with other THMers by joining the THM online weightloss communities like the THM Membership Site, Trim Healthy Mama main Fb group or get into some great challenge groups. These can help you to periodically revisit the vision for this great eating plan, rather than just plugging ingredients into a recipe.
- Take advantage of Pearl and Serene’s Podcasts and get re-energized to do the plan right and avoid common pitfalls!
- Get up and get moving! Trim Health Mama’s Workins, T-tapp Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes, or other short but powerful workouts will get you moving from the convenience and security of your own home.
Official THM resources for those with special dietary needs or concerns:
Allergen Free Trim Healthy Mama
Unofficial Fb groups and pages:
These can be a very helpful resource if they are moderated by knowledgeable THM veterans, but they should be in addition to the official support and not instead of it and all questions about the plan should be directed to the official groups, listed above.
There are too many unofficial groups and helps to mention in this post but one did stand out to me….As I was recalling my past experiences and gathering resources and info for this post I ran across this great post from Marrissa’s Kitchen that really covered many of the things I have experienced. I found the information to be covered well in this conversational video, so I immediately got in contact with this THM friendly vlogger and she agreed to let me share her past experiences and wisdom on this subject.
Marissa also has lots of recipe reviews and other great tips so I hope you’ll get a chance to check them out while you’re over there. 🙂
Note: I do understand that watching the numbers on a scale can be the recipe for disaster if you let those numbers dictate and discourage you. But on the other hand, numbers can also be a great overall indicator of whether or not you’re on the right course. In the first example you serve the numbers, but in the second case the numbers can serve you.
So if you’re a slave to the scale get rid of it, but if you find it to be a compass that can help you track your progress. This video is Marissa’s experience and I hope it will help you in your journey to Making THM Work For You!
